Would you like to join Parent corps?

Parent Corps offers parents a way to band together to support each other as they raise their children in today’s world. Membership is FREE and is open to any parent supporting a child at Turner High School. A parent is defined as a biological parent, adoptive parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, godparent, foster parent or any other adult who may be a guardian to a child.

If you are interested in joining us at Turner High School in raising happy, healthy children, click the link below and send the completed form to my attention at Turner High School.

You may also download the Youth Corps form and mail along with your Parent Corps form

Turner High School welcomes parent corps

Parent Corps and Youth Corps began at Turner High School in December of 2005. More than 200 parents are Parent Corps members and 73 students have joined the Youth Corps. Information on the impact of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs on young people has been shared with parents at several meetings. We passed out information and recruited members during the Turner Recreation Fishing Derby, Turner High School enrollment, and athletic events.

Dr. Ken Winters from the University of Minnesota presented information on adolescent brain development and drug abuse to parents and school staff on September 27 at a Parent Corps workshop.

The Parent Corps and the Turner High School SADD Club sponsored a Hurricane Relief Dance to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina who have been relocated to Kansas City.

Information on alcohol and other drugs is available at no cost in the Parent Corps Resource Center, located in the Receptionist’s Office and in the school library. On March 28, we will have a Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking at Kansas City Kansas Community College. In March, the Parent Corps and the Kansas National Guard will sponsor a program, “The Wrong of Passage” to bring students and parent together to discuss underage drinking. GX International will give a demo on skateboarding, BMX bike riding, break dancing while delivering a positive message to students in the school parking lot in April in collaboration with the SADD Club, Student Council and other school organizations. More activities are scheduled for the Spring semester and everyone is encouraged to participate.
